CAPABLE: National Program aimed to help seniors live longer and more independently expands to Philly

The CAPABLE program will be expanding to the Philadelphia region, thanks to a critical new partnership.

On July 7, it was announced that Heart Home Healthcare Services (“HFTH”) has partnered with The Hairston Foundation for Social Justice to help Philadelphia region seniors age safely in their homes.

The CAPABLE program, which stands for “Community Aging in Place – Advancing Better Living for Elders” was launched more than a decade ago by nurses at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, and implemented locally by HFTH. | From AL DÍA (Read more.)

Color Me Back: The program using art to brighten public spaces in Philly

Philadelphia’s art scene is one of the most prominent in the country. One nonprofit organization coloring the city and changing lives in the process is Color Me Back, which is bringing local, struggling artists the opportunity to create murals at SEPTA stations and other areas in Philly.

Philadelphia woman directing $100k in grant funding dedicated to boosting Black biz

Helping Black-owned social enterprises thrive is Chelsey Lowe’s passion.

Lowe is one of two people running the Well City Challenge, a citywide quest to develop new ventures that boost the health of millennial Philadelphians, which studies show is generally worse than generations before them.
